We at Black Bear Brewery only brew ale that we like to drink and for us that is a range of traditional malt flavours with subtle hop undertones.
All of our ale is brewed using a combination of Marris Otter grains and a Belgian wheat malt with additions of dark malts, amber malts, chocolate malts and cara malts. These combinations help produce our unique flavourings and textures present in our current range…
The ‘Daddy bear’ of our range is smooth and malty with a slight bitterness and no sweet tangs. Slightly floral with a touch of elderflower from cascade hops. A traditional brown ale in every sense.
The naughty blond ale built from, (you guessed it) golden hops. A wonderful summer ale brewed all year round. She has a fresh hop aroma and is like sun-baked straw in colour.
‘Mummy Bear’ - strong in flavour and in strength with sweetness oozing through. Malty flavours and brown in colour. Currently only available at the Bear Inn, Wiveliscombe, Somerset.
Baby Bear Ale is best known for its exceptional balance of malt and hops, giving rise to well-rounded flavour. Uk Golding Hops, Maris otter barley and English black malt make for this traditional session ale. Created for and named after the head brewers newly born son Ivar Torban Coward.
